Hainanese-style kopi house at NEX serving kaya toast, soft-boiled eggs and local classics from morning to night.
Toast Box at NEX is a nostalgic Hainanese-style coffee stall on Basement 2 at #B2-58/59, part of the BreadTalk family of brands. It is best known for its Traditional Kaya Toast, made with Hainanese coconut-and-pandan kaya and slivers of butter on lightly toasted bread, served with soft-boiled eggs and a cup of Nanyang coffee brewed the old-fashioned way through a cloth sock. The stall is a familiar fixture for Serangoon residents seeking a proper local breakfast.
Beyond the classic toast set, the menu reaches into hearty local fare such as curry chicken, laksa, mee siam, mee rebus and nasi lemak, making it more than a morning stop. Extended daily hours mean it works for brunch, an afternoon snack or a casual dinner, and delivery is available for those who would rather eat at home. The quick counter service suits shoppers pausing between errands as much as commuters grabbing a bite on the go.
For a taste of old-school Singapore right in the heart of Serangoon, Toast Box is a comforting choice at NEX. Order a kopi, tuck into a kaya toast set, and let the familiar flavours set you up for the rest of your day.
Wanted to give it no stars cos my family had a disappointing meal here. Expected to get more out of the 10$ prata set but it was only 2 small plain prata and some curry with a small chicken wing joint. Not even the full chicken wing haha. A real ripoff.

Conveniently located near Serangoon MRT, this place is easily accessible. It’s usually busy, but finding a seat isn’t too hard. The kopi is consistently good, and there’s a nice variety of options. My personal favorite is the peanut cake definitely worth trying!
