About Serangoon Gardens

Serangoon Gardens (实龙岗花园, 红砂厘 / Ang Sar Lee) is the 1950s landed estate off Yio Chu Kang Road. Steven Charles Macey built it on a former rubber plantation. NHB records 1,000 houses by 1954 and a market soon after. Older residents named it for the red zinc roofs. The Circus is the food centre: Serangoon Garden Market in the morning, Chomp Chomp from about 16:00, myVillage for air-con. Bus 315 and 317 from Serangoon interchange. This is a neighbourhood. List the hawkers and the mall as their own rows. Do not treat the whole estate as a mall.
